WHAT IS THE 'PEACEFUL KIDS' PROGRAM?

‘Peaceful Kids’ is a Mindfulness and Positive Psychology based program to lessen anxiety and stress and increase resilience in children from Prep to Year 12. The program has been created to fulfil a need in schools to offer all children who suffer from anxiety, a developmentally appropriate program that gives children the skills, practice and support to utilise coping strategies that lessen the symptoms of anxiety and stress.  This program helps children to build their emotional resilience so they are better equipped to deal with the day to day stresses that life brings them. The program also involves parental involvement and commitment to supporting the strategies at home.

Our program will begin in week three of Term 2 with the students in Grades 3 and 5 (Grades 4 and 5 will participate in the program during Term three). The program will run for 1 hour a week for 8 weeks, facilitated by Mrs. Hogan.
Part of the program will involve students completing some activities at home. Families will be provided with information regarding these activities.
Throughout this time, these students will only be required to do reading and spelling homework so as to allow them time  to fully participate in the home activities.
During these sessions Miss McEvoy will take the remainder of the school for Physical Education.
