St Mary's School Advisory Council

The main role of St. Mary's School Advisory Council is to assist with the preservation and promotion of the school's Catholic ethos and culture. The School Advisory Council provides informed advice to the Governing Authority and assists with planning for the present and future operation of the school. 

St. Mary's School Advisory Council members have a leadership role within and for the school. 
In exercising leadership within the school, the School Advisory Council's role is to ensure that there are structures and processes that enable the community wisdom to be shared. 
School Advisory Council members are in the privileged position of  formulating and offering infomed advice to the Governing Authority and Principal. 


The St. Mary's School Advisory Council share in the work of enacting the school's vision and ensuring that the school operates as effectively as possible. 
- Assist with stewardship of the Catholic vision, ethos and culture of the school.
- Provide strategic advice and support to the Governing Authority and the principal on matters relating to school operations and ongoing improvement. 
-Have what is best for the students at the heart of all advice it offers. 
-Fairly represent the views and needs of the St. Mary's School Community. 
- Assist with promoting St. Mary's School and Catholic Education in the local community. 
- School Advisory members operate on a model of cooperation and consensus.

The School Advisory Council for 2020 consists of the following elected members of the community:

- Fr Eugene McKinnon (Ex-officio)
- Mrs Anne Anderson  (Ex-officio)
- Mr  Gavin Belleville(Chairperson)
- Mr Heath Griffiths

- Ms Tennille Clapham
 


SCHOOL ADVISORY  COUNCIL MEMBERS  ARE EXPECTED TO ADHERE TO AND SIGN THE SCHOOL'S CODE OF CONDUCT WHEN ELECTED AND EACH THREE YEARS. THE CODE OF CONDUCT INDUCTION WILL BE COMPLETED AT THE START OF EACH YEAR. THIS CODE OF CONDUCT ADDRESSES CHILD SAFETY AT ST. MARY'S. ​

The School Board meets once per term during Week Two or as required in consultation with the Principal and Chairperson. . Meetings are held on Wednesday 7.00pm.
