Whole School Norms - Semester 2018

Throughout Semester Two the students and staff focused on embedding the school norms into our school. Each Monday morning as part of the Assembly the prayer and whole school activity would focus on a norm.
At St. Mary's School we are called to follow Jesus by :
Being a responsible learner
Being Fair
Being Respectful
Accepting everyone's differences
Being Forgiving.

For Weeks Six and Seven the school looked at 'Respect. The whole school activity focused on listening to a rap on respect and then in groups developing a verse to perform for the school.

RESPECT
Yes I know Respect is the thing to do
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
I always treat my friends like I hope they treat me.
R-E-S-P-E-C-T
Treating everybody respectfully.

Well I went outside feeling angry at my friend
Because he beat me in a game at the very end.
I wanted to hit him because I was mad
But I decided not to hit him as it would make everyone sad.
Nicholas Toby Texas Daniel Sophie Zachariah and Marnie

Well I was in the swimming pool and what did I see
someone standing on the edge of the pool
I wanted to push them in to a make a big splash and make them look like a fool
But I respected their choice and did not push them in.
Leo Hannah Ethan Lyric Elijah and Lithil

Well I was playing basketball and what did I see
Someone was wanting to join in with me
I wanted him to go away
But I decided to just let him play
Finn Charli Jaya Marty Libby and Nate

Well I looked in my friend’s lunchbox and what did I see
Three delicious donuts that looked so yummy
I wanted to eat them ‘cause I was so hungry but all I had was a very yucky curry
But I left them alone and ate my last night’s tea.
I did it the respectful way.
Chloe Charli Delilah John Jasper and Ellie

Well I wanted to go on the big swings
But what did I see
There was some big bully hogging it like a king
I wanted to push him off the swings and tell him to go home and tell him to never come again.
But I thought that it would be unfair so I went to the baby swing instead.
Jacob Zac Mellings Charlotte Piper Parker Darnell and River

Well I was in the bathroom and what did I see
I saw a tap that was on. Did the janitor even see.
I wanted to leave it on
But I know that was wrong
So I decided to turn the tap off.
Zac Griffiths Geordie Lachlan Shaine Skye Patience

Well I was let out at Recess and what did I see
A racquet shining and looking at me.
I wanted to run and get it first
But I didn’t run because I know that we’re not allowed to .
